Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter – a new standalone film set after The Rise of Skywalker – has officially begun production in the UK, StarWars.com reports. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Amy Adams, arriving in theaters May 28, 2027, just days after the 50-year anniversary of the original Star Wars film.
Lucasfilm paired the announcement with the release of a set photo featuring Gosling and Gray sitting on the hood of a landspeeder in a dingy environment a dianoga might find charming.
We haven’t gotten a theatrical Star Wars film in six years, so I’m excited to see my favorite franchise back on the big screen with this film and next year’s The Mandalorian & Grogu. But will Star Wars fans actually show up following the inarguably divisive Sequel Trilogy?
